The Dutch government is introducing a truck toll on 1 July 2026. All trucks over 3,500 kg will pay a per-kilometer fee on nearly all Dutch highways and a portion of provincial roads. This applies to both Dutch and foreign vehicles, meaning it affects domestic shipments as well as international routes where any part of the journey passes through the Netherlands.
Some couriers have already informed that they will pass on a surcharge from that date. The following applies to shipments from our NL-NED (Weert) and NL-VNL (Venlo) warehouses:

Parcels
- For domestic shipments, a new truck toll surcharge of €0.07 per package applies to shipping and return costs.
- For international shipments, a new truck toll surcharge of €0.05 per package applies to shipping and return costs.
Freight
- For domestic shipments, a new truck toll surcharge of 5.9% of the shipping and return costs applies.
- For other international shipments, a new truck toll surcharge of 2.9% of the shipping and return costs applies. In addition, Freight is increasing the mileage charge for other international shipments by 4.38% of the shipping and return costs.
While the Eurovignette is being phased out and the motor vehicle tax for heavy vehicles is being reduced, these changes only partially offset the new toll costs. The surcharge reflects the remaining difference.
There is currently a political discussion in the Netherlands about a possible temporary reduction in the per-kilometer rate. The July 1 introduction date remains scheduled. If the government adjusts the rate and this changes what carriers pass on to us, we will update you accordingly.
