If you store products in our Netherlands warehouse (NED), add the outer box information to each product in myOGO2 before you send a stock update. An outer box is the master carton your supplier packs the products in. Without this information, NED charges inbound handling for every single item instead of per carton.
Why outer boxes matter at NED
NED's warehouse system calculates the inbound handling cost automatically from the product data it has when the stock update is processed:
- Outer box set: full cartons are received and charged per box (or per pallet).
- No outer box set: the warehouse counts the items one by one, and the inbound is charged per item.
The difference can be large. A carton of 100 items charged per item costs many times more than the same carton charged as one box.
Please note:
- The outer box must be in the warehouse system before NED starts processing the stock update. The warehouse does not add missing outer boxes during the inbound, and charges are not corrected afterwards.
- The box rate applies only to cartons that arrive full and unopened. Mixed or opened cartons are still counted and charged per item.
See the current inbound rates in your price list.
See which products have outer boxes
Open Products in myOGO2. In the product list, the Outer box column shows how many units are in each product's outer box, for example 24 or 24 / 144 if a product has two carton sizes. An empty cell means the product has no outer box yet.
Use the outer box filter to list only the products without an outer box. These are the products to fill in before your next stock update to NED.
Add an outer box to a product
- Open the product from the product list.
- Find the Packaging section.
- Click Add level and fill in:
- Type: Box for an outer box / master carton, or Pallet for a full pallet.
- Units: how many items are in the box.
- Barcode: the barcode printed on the carton, if it has one.
- Optionally the carton dimensions (mm) and weight (g).
- Click Save at the top of the page.
When you save, the outer box is sent to the NED warehouse automatically. Under the warehouse details on the same page, Packaging in the WMS shows the outer boxes NED has for the product, and tells you when they are In sync with Packaging.
If NED already has outer boxes that are not in myOGO2, click Sync to Packaging to copy them in. myOGO2 also picks up the outer boxes from NED every night.
If a product really has no outer box (for example, it always arrives as loose items), tick No packaging levels so you are not asked about it again.
Coming soon: alerts on stock updates
When you create a stock update to the NED warehouse, myOGO2 will warn you about products that do not have an outer box set, so you can add them before the goods arrive.
